Barco, a simulation projector, announces the introduction of the F400-HR. This claims to be the industry’s first single-chip native 4K resolution projector, creating a new chapter in high-resolution simulation systems. Barco aims to design projectors that create the highest level of realism possible. The new F400-HR is stated to be specifically designed for the training & simulation market and ensures a smooth experience that allows trainees to sharpen their skills and let every action become part of their instincts.

The F400-HR is developed to bring the ultimate image quality to advanced simulator systems. With a native resolution of 4K (4,096 x 2,176)  which can be lifted to even 6K and higher using the powerful built-in pixel-shift capability. The F400-HR brings even the smallest details to life. The extremely high-speed processing of up to 240 Hz at native 4K resolution.

Built on the next-generation proprietary Barco Pulse platform, the F400-HR also benefits from the extraordinary high bandwidth capacity of this software architecture, which ensures multiple advanced processing operations can take place with minimal time delays. Barco Pulse features claim to be an expansion port for optional modules to increase the range of standard inputs, and its API enables partners to integrate custom management tools and value-add features to complement the projector’s software. With limited energy consumption and a lifetime of up to 50,000 hours (depending on the mode of operation) without the need for maintenance, the projector also ensures a minimal TCO.

The F400-HR is fully rated for shock and vibration, electronics and hardware are built around a unique H-beam-shaped aluminum core, to give the projector an optimized strength-to-weight ratio. The design also facilitates simplified maintenance and service, with critical components directly accessible from top and bottom.

“The F400-HR concentrates all Barco’s technology leadership into one projector”, says Dave Fluegeman, VP of Barco’s Simulation Division. “It is built on the next generation of our renowned Barco Pulse platform and features optimal state-of-the-art performance for any simulation environment. A worldwide service team is also available to assist our customers, providing true peace of mind. The F400-HR will be a flagship device in our portfolio for the coming years.”

Also available is the purpose-built FS400-HR, designed for NVG simulation applications. This projector adds a dedicated IR light source to the F400-HR’s solid-state RGB light engine, allowing for individual control of visible light and IR intensity.

Complementing the launch of the two new native 4K simulation projectors is the ultra-high resolution EN83 lens, optimized for native 4K and higher resolutions. The EN83 is stated to have an extremely high optical quality and is designed specifically to maximize brightness, eliminate dust contamination, and withstand motion and vibration through an improved barrel design. The lens affirms to be the first in the new Barco FLC series of lenses designed for the new native 4K projection platform. The F400-HR series is also compatible with the current FLD-type lenses safeguarding past investments when updating to higher-performance visual systems.
