Dassault Systemes, a French software corporation which develops software for 3D product design, simulation, manufacturing and other 3D related products recently announced that Havells, one of India’s largest fast-moving electrical goods manufacturer, is using its manufacturing execution system applications to digitalise its factories. MES solutions are used on the assembly lines along with managing key business processes like planning and scheduling, material management, production management, traceability, quality assurance and maintenance activities. Havells can mitigate the challenges of white goods in the consumer durables industry to establish sustainable products and processes through energy and resource efficiency, and better waste management while considering social changes which impact consumption patterns.

MES efficiencies delivered by Dassault Systèmes’ DELMIA applications powered by the 3DEXPERIENCE platform provide real time visibility of data to executives.  This empowers them with decision making, from shop floor to top floor, hence eliminating non-value added activities and process bottlenecks. Real-time analytics reduce supply chain disruptions and raise equipment efficiencies.

With ‘Make in India’ as the key strategy, Havells expanded its manufacturing capacity last year and continues to focus on automation and operational efficiency. With the deployment of DELMIA, Havells has increased the production rate at the Ghiloth plant by leveraging real-time collection and monitoring of data. This also resulted in reduced rework and increased operational efficiency of the plant, further establishing the traceability of critical components and error-proof production techniques. The high automation and management systems at the Ghiloth AC plant will optimize the product portfolio cost structure, make more efficient products and cement their position in this market. Dassault Systèmes is enabling Havells to innovate greener processes and plans, for more sustainable manufacturing operations.

“As the leading brand in the consumer durables industry, we are excited to bring high technology products through power of smart manufacturing. Havells has always been the front runner for Industry 4.0 and committed to produce world-class, innovative products using globally-benchmarked manufacturing systems and practices. Our tremendous growth in the past year has powered our step to digitalise our plants in the country. Dassault Systèmes has enabled us to reduce rework by half which has increased our productivity significantly. The MES solution is also aligned with the ‘Make in India’ vision of the country which is complimented by our innovative lineup of products,” said Pramod Mundra, Executive Vice President and CIO, Havells India Limited.

“We are glad to partner with Havells on their manufacturing digitalization journey by helping them adopt sustainable industry-leading practices. Dassault Systèmes aims to provide them with real-time, accurate control of their plant for enabling production upcycling, improving environmental protection and offering profitable solutions to market. With the digitalization of the plants by Havells across the country, we look forward to a sustainable future that incorporates digital measures,” said Deepak NG, Managing Director India, Dassault Systèmes.

Havells has a global footprint spanning 60 countries across 21 business verticals with the most diverse product portfolio in India’s consumer durables industry. With MES-driven efficiencies, Havells is poised to deliver powerful, sustainable and energy efficient solutions in the consumer durables segment together with Dassault Systemes. Havells is taking a lead in building virtual capabilities by establishing virtual twins of its operations using Dassault Systèmes’ technology, which helps contextualize data, explore countless possibilities and determine the most feasible plan in line with the sustainability innovation goals of the company.
