Building the future of networks with cloud-native software that works in any cloud and transforms the way the world connects Mavenir , a network software provider, recently announced a collaboration with Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. to expand its OpenBeam Open RAN portfolio of 5G Radio Units (RU) spanning categories ranging from mmWave to Massive MIMO with 64T64R capabilities to 8T8R radios to drive the transition towards modern networks.

Additionally, Mavenir has reported its plans for the development of a VDU RAN software based on the Qualcomm X100 5G RAN Accelerator Card. This collaboration aims to leverage the power of Mavenir’s software solutions and Qualcomm Technologies’ global leadership in 5G and connectivity platforms, to deliver expanded next-generation solutions.

As per the announcement, the two firms will operate together for the promotion of Open RAN globally with transformative solutions and help companies and carriers achieve flexible network deployments that meet the diverse needs of 5G.

Mavenir’s latest products are backed by Qualcomm X100 5G RAN accelerator cards and Qualcomm QRUxxx 5G RAN platform for high-performance, large-scale MIMO, and are innovative by enhancing Mavenir’s existing open RAN solutions. It is designed to enable large-scale deployments of virtual open 5G networks and meet performance demands at the connected intelligent edge of carriers.

Mavenir claimed that the network operators will be able to deploy a cost-effective 5G network infrastructure while addressing the complexity of supporting next-generation network demands for high capacity and low latency needed to improve the consumer experience. We are facing difficult challenges. With the accelerating growth of mobile data traffic, network operators are looking for larger capacity platforms to meet their customers’ needs.

Pardeep Kohli, President, and CEO of Mavenir

Pardeep Kohli, President, and CEO of Mavenir, said: “Mavenia’s cloud-based and open RAN-based network expertise and technical leadership in developing high-performance, low-power, application-specific integrated circuit (ASIC) 5G solutions for Qualcomm Technologies device/infrastructure products. The combination will revolutionize the way mobile networks are designed and the way they deliver next-generation services, giving operators new opportunities to innovate within their networks. “

Daga Maladi, Senior Vice President and General Manager of 5G / Mobile Broadband / Infrastructure at Qualcomm Technologies, said: “As a global 5G technology leader, Qualcomm Technologies is dedicated to advancing the industry and pushing the boundaries of innovation. We work with like-minded industry leaders and innovators like Mavenir. Only by doing so can this goal be achieved. Qualcomm Technologies will work with Mavenir to drive global adoption of next-generation 5G mobile infrastructure, allowing carriers to demand performance at the edge. We are pleased to be able to help you enhance your user experience in response.”
