As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program to support national talents, Tamdeen Group, Kuwait’s leading mixed-use property developer, announced the winners of Souq Al Kout Development Competition, launched in collaboration with Kuwait Architectural Students Association (KASA), a non-profit association run by students of the Department of Architecture at Kuwait University. Through the collaboration, innovative modern concepts were integrated into Tamdeen Group’s plan to enhance and develop the northern area of the iconic Souk Al Kout in Fahaheel.

The winners of the competition were announced during a special event hosted to celebrate this occasion. The winning design was created by the students Abdulaziz Al-Khonaini, Farah Al-Mannai, and Lulwa Al-Awda. Meanwhile, student Asayel Al-Saeed’s entry came in second place. Students Reem Al-Farhan, Sheikha Al-Ajmi, Mohammed Al-Kurdi, Haya Al-Nibari, Retaj Al-Khader, Sarah Al-Ruwaished, and Raghad Al-Mulla were also recognized by Tamdeen Group for their participation and inventive designs.

Commenting on this initiative, Mr. Mahmoud Al-Marzouq, CEO, Tamdeen Group, expressed his satisfaction of the excellent student engagement in this initiative and the high quality of the architectural designs and brilliant ideas they presented as part of their designs to renovate one of the most significant and popular shopping destinations in southern Kuwait.

“In keeping with our CSR policy, Tamdeen Group’s initiative aimed to actively involve the younger generation in the renovation designs for Souq Al Kout, one of the unique experiences at the Al Kout project. The competition effectively engaged the students in the development of a project managed by one of the most prominent real estate companies in Kuwait. The initiative also allows Tamdeen Group to contribute to the local community by creating entertainment and retail spaces that far exceed visitors’ expectations.” Al-Marzouq added.

Meanwhile, KASA President Rafah Al-Farsi commended Tamdeen Group for inviting KASA to join this unique and groundbreaking initiative. She emphasized the relevance of this program in encouraging young talents to participate in the implementation and development of “Souq Al Kout,” one of Fahaheel’s most significant entertainment and retail locations.

Al-Farsi further stated that KASA aspires to continue its partnership with Tamdeen Group in pioneering new community activities that aim to empower Kuwaiti students. KASA is a non-profit student organization associated with the Department of Architecture at Kuwait University. The group was founded in 2000 by architects and architecture faculty members who graduated from Kuwait University to provide academic and communal assistance to students.

KASA organizes an annual exhibition to show case students’ projects to the public, promoting local awareness about the value of architecture, and offering a creative platform for outstanding student projects.
